The Ford Ranger returned to the market in 2019 following an extended absence. While the 2019 Ranger was well-received, the 2020 Ford Ranger is even more impressive. This time around the Ranger gets some refreshments and updates to please everyone. More features are added across the board, and you can select a new off-road package to enhance the ride quality of your Ranger off the beaten path. The Ford Ranger is equipped with numerous amenities and safety features on all trim levels. The 2020 Ranger also excels in performance with a powerful engine and plenty of towing power. The Ranger belongs to the same class as the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado. However, the Ranger has more features, including more safety technology, and it has more off-road potential, especially when outfitted with the off-road package. To experience the latest Ford Ranger for yourself, be sure to schedule a 2020 Ford Ranger virtual test drive at Brondes Ford Maumee so that you can safely try out the Ranger and explore its features from a distance.

Performance

Performance is certainly a strong suit of the 2020 Ranger. The Ranger has one engine across the line, which is a 2.3L turbo engine with four cylinders. The Ford Ranger's engine creates 270 HP and more than 300 LB-FT of torque. It is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Chevy Colorado, on the other hand, has an engine that only produces 200 HP at most and 191 LB-FT of torque. The Colorado only has a six-speed automatic transmission. Along with its more powerful engine, the Ford Ranger also has better towing capabilities than the Chevy Colorado.

Interior Design

The Ford Ranger has more interior space than the Chevy Colorado, making it the better choice if you're looking to fill the truck with equipment or passengers. The Ranger has a choice of two body styles, including an extended cab with a six-foot truck bed or a crew cab that has a five-foot bed. Along with offering plenty of legroom and headroom, the interior of the 2020 Ford Ranger also has a number of storage spaces to keep your personal belongings organized and out of the way. The Chevy Colorado doesn't have as much room for occupants, which can make people feel cramped, especially in the back. The Colorado doesn't have the same interior storage capacity as the Ranger either.

Safety and Technology

The Ford Ranger throws in a nice variety of safety and tech features on all trim levels. To start, you will get a four-speaker sound system and a WiFi hotspot. The base trim, called the XL, also has some safety aids including automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. Air conditioning is standard as well. A larger infotainment system is available through an upgrade, along with a Co-Pilot360 package that adds additional safety features such as lane-keep assist, pedestrian detection, and rear cross-traffic alert. A 110V power outlet is added to the XLT, which is the next trim, along with parking sensors in the rear and an eight-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An available package adds adaptive cruise control and navigation. The Chevy Colorado does not include WiFi at the base level, and it doesn't include an infotainment system until the second trim level. Advanced safety aids, including most that are standard on the Ranger, are not added to the Colorado until the top trim levels. Even though some trims contain an advanced safety aid package, you'll still need to add on additional safety features as standalone upgrades to get the same safety profile as you'll find with the 2020 Ranger.
